Master Potter

Just like the clay in the potter’s hand, so are you in my hand, O house of Israel. Jer. 18:6b.

Master Potter,
May I be pliable in your hands
With a softened heart
That the person within me emerge
As you see best.
[Now, wait a minute. I know where this is going.
Surrender! Let go and let God! Let God what? I always say].
“Hush, child. You haven’t let me finish.
You are not in the hands of any angry god.
You are my hands in the world.
And like the scene from the movie, Ghost[1]
You are in my embrace as you turn the potter’s wheel.”
